ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The embattled president of the Missouri History Museum may be called to testify before a committee of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen.

The board approved a resolution calling for hearings into alleged financial mismanagement and lavish spending at the museum. Sponsoring Aldermen Joe Roddy says it’s “his understanding” that if the committee calls President Robert Archibald to testify he must or else face a subpoena.

“I think it would be disastrous for him if he doesn’t show up,” Roddy added. “Everybody is watching this story and he needs to explain what’s happened and meet the criticism head on, I think.”

But Archibald has plenty of time to consider his next move. The aldermen have adjourned for winter break, and won’t be back until January 11th. Hearings could get underway in February.
