ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) — School across the metro region are on guard Monday in light of the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
One parent from a St. Charles County elementary school says he noticed a change in security as he was dropping off his child for pre-kindergarten class this morning.
The parent, who wants to remain anonymous, says previously he was able to simply walk into his child’s school and walk out. But today, a teacher greeted parents while holding a walkie talkie and a police officer and the principal were inside the entrance way as well.
The parent says he was glad to see the increase in security although he has always felt the school was safe and he never gave a thought to something tragic happening.
