WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOX) – Police quickly arrested an armed suspect who led officers on both a car and a foot chase around noon.
The situation also prompted the lockdown of several Washington-area schools.
It began when the man sped away from a routine traffic stop. He eventually ditched the vehicle around Diener Road and ran into a wooded area, wearing fatigues and carrying what officers described as a rifle.
The Washington Missourian paper reports that the suspect was captured on a deck of a home near Holtgrewe Road, west of Pottery Road. The gun was not with him.
A school official tells KMOX that all lockdowns have been lifted.
