FREEBURG, IL. (KMOX) - A three-alarm fire did extensive damage to the basement of a home in Freeburg, Illinois.
Assistant Fire Chief Greg Vogel says it broke out around 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon at 8316 Peabody Road.
Most of the damage was confined to the basement, but there was some damage to upper floors. A husband and wife were home at the time but got out safely.
Firefighters from New Athens, Smithton, Belleville, Mascoutah, Fayetteville and Marissa responded.
