ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Fire crews were wraping up work Monday morning in the 3300 block of Indiana in south St. Louis.
St. Louis City Fire Department spokesman Dan Sutter says flames were already shooting through the roof of the three-story residential building when they arrived just after 3 a.m.
He says although the house had been empty for some time, the main concern was preventing the flames from spreading to other nearby homes.
“The challenge is that there were a lot of embers that hit and were drifting and igniting a number of small ember fires in the neighborhood. So we had fire crews also extinguishing those fires,” Sutter said.
No injuries were reported and there’s no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
