ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri Department of Transportation trucks were out early this morning, spreading de-icer on area roads and they will be followed later today by snowplows.
MoDOT’s St. Louis District maintenance engineer Becky Allmeroth says the department is not taking the current forecast of 1-to-3 inches of snow at face value.
“We are kind of preparing for the worst,” she said. “We are looking at these borderline temperatures and if it’s rain that means some freezing drizzle. That’s kind of one of those deceiving situations, especially for drivers.”
As always, those drivers are advised to leave MoDOT plows plenty of space to get their jobs done.
400 drivers are prepared to work 12-hour shifts throughout St. Louis, St. Charles, Franklin and Jefferson Counties until roads are completely clear of snow.
