EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – The Madison County Coroner is investigating the death of a 20-year old Chesterfield Man.

Michael Heney was found outside an Edwardsville home on West Southcrest Circle around ten New Year’s Eve night. He reportedly fell and hit his head near the back porch of the residences.

Friends took Heney to Anderson Express, but the facility was closed. They then called 911, but when medics arrived, he was unresponsive and transported to Anderson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Coroner Steven Nonn says it is not clear if Heney had a medical condition. An autopsy will be performed Wednesday. The cause of death is unknown.

Edwardsville Police are handling the investigation.
