ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A tractor-trailer hauling nearly 100 head of cattle tried to take the Third Street exit off of westbound I-64 at East St. Louis this morning but turned out to be a few inches taller than the clearance height.
The truck hit the bridge, which is just under 15 feet high, and overturned onto its side.
Officials with the Illinois Department of Transportation say it took time to clear the scene because all of the cattle had to be transferred to another truck. No injuries were reported.
