WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) — A Warrenton man says he was robbed at knife point after offering to help a stranger. The suspect is now in custody in a case that took officers half way across the state.

Wentzville police say Ervin Yoder met the suspect, 25 year-old Joshua Frillman, at a business in Warrenton and gave him a ride to St. Joseph’s hospital to treat his injured hand. Afterwards, Yoder tells police he bought Frillman some food and then drove him to a home where Frillman was allegedly staying. That’s when the situation took a negative turn. Yoder says Frillman pulled out a knife and robbed him.

Two days later, police say Frillman stole his ex-girlfriend’s car in Warrenton.

On New Year’s Day, a state trooper found Frillman in possession of the vehicle in Phelps County in Central Missouri. St. Charles County prosecutors have charged him with robbery and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Frillman’s bond is set at $50,000.
