ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Looks like former Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman is returning to the American League, where he can log some at-bats as a designated hitter.
Ken Rosenthal with Fox Sports cites major league sources, Saturday, confirmed to him the slugger just needs to pass a physical and he’ll become a member of the Texas Rangers.
The native Texan might also have a vesting option for the 2014 season.
Rosenthal’s sources did not disclose a price tag— but Berkman made $12 million last season for the Cardinals, playing only 32 games due to injury.
Berkman’s only previous stint in the American League came with the New York Yankees, prior to his stay in St. Louis.
