Deadly Shooting on South Grand Was Over Stolen Candy Bars

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Authorities reveal what led to a deadly shooting last week — a pair of stolen candy bars.

33-year-old Kenneth Payne has been charged with 1st-Degree Murder, assault and armed criminal action following Thursday’s shooting outside a beauty salon on South Grand.

Two workers in the store chased Payne outside after his girlfriend allegedly took two candy bars without paying for them.

Payne reportedly pulled a gun and shot a 22-year-old man to death and seriously injured the second person.

He’s being held without bond.
