JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KMOX) - A train derailment involving eight cars in Jefferson County had Imperial Main Street closed. A few homes were evacuated, as a precaution. Those residents have been allowed back in their homes.
Rock Community Fire Protection District spokesman Ron Harder tells KMOX no injuries have been reported.
“A couple cars had residual hazardous materials,” he said. “The ‘residual’ means the cars were empty with just some residue in there, posing not a real hazard.”
The cause of the derailment is not known and Harder says Rock Community continues to work with railroad officials.
