MEXICO, Mo. (KMOX) -  It sounds like something out of a movie, but it happened in Audrain County northwest of St. Louis.

On Friday, three bail bondsmen spotted a fugitive they wanted to arrest and opened fire on him.

The fugitive, 34-year-old John Henry Holsman, dodged the bullets and sped off in his car with the bail bondsmen in hot pursuit.

When they reached Mexico Missouri Holsman slammed on his brakes and ran into the restroom of a nearby restaurant, but his pursuers caught up and began beating him right there on the spot.

Holsman’s now in custody on the original charges of stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle, failing to register as a sex offender and other crimes.

But the three bail bondsmen also find themselves on the wrong side of the law — they’re facing assault and weapons charges.
