Belleville High Schooler Threatens To Bring Gun To School

BELLEVILLE, IL (KMOX) – On the same day that Ladue Police served a warrant on Instagram trying to find out who posted a threat concerning Ladue Middle School, a Belleville West High School student is in trouble for sending out a tweet this morning which said he was bringing a gun to school.

Belleville Superintendent Jeff Dosier says police and administrators tracked down the student, who told them he was only joking. Dosier says students, especially those in high school, have to know better.

“They know the current events,” he said. “They know the things that have been in the news and in other social media sites. They know what’s happened in the world around them.”

Dosier says administrators cannot take those kind of statements lightly and students who make them face severe school discipline and possible criminal charges.

“You can’t put things out on social media that are disruptive, that are threatening,” he said. “You have to be very careful. You have to know the society that we live in today.”
