ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Police say the man who was shot to death by an officer in a north St. Louis White Castle, early Saturday, was carrying a replica gun.
He’s been identified as 21-year-old Thomas Donovan of St. Louis.
Investigators say Donovan may be the same man who had previously robbed the restaurant at Kingshighway and Natural Bridge. He walked in just before four this morning and displayed the weapon as he walked up to the counter.
Police say Donovan refused orders from two security officers to drop the weapon…so one of the officers…a 48-year-old 21-year police force veteran shot him in the abdomen.
Donovan died at a hospital.
The officer’s on administrative leave, as is routine in such cases.
