FENTON, Mo. (KMOX) – Police have arrested a woman whose son was found abandoned in a Fenton hotel room Monday.
Authorities say Denise R. Cooke of Indianapolis, Indiana left her 9-year-old son at the Stratford Inn on south Kingshighway Sunday night.
St. Louis County Police were called to the hotel just before 8 a.m. Monday for reports of found property. Employees of a nearby business found clothes and a purse belonging to the 29-year-old in the parking lot.
When Cooke was nowhere to be found they issued a “Missing and Endangered Person” alert. Hours after issuing the alert Cooke showed up at the Stratford Inn.
She reportedly then told police she had gone out for a few drinks and did not intend to leave her child alone for so long.
Cooke now faces child endangerment charges. The child was turned over to his grandfather who lives in the St. Louis area.
