DITTMER, MO (KMOX) - Deputies responding to a fire last night in Dittmer, Missouri located what they believe to be the remains of an elderly occupant.

The fire broke out at a home in the 9200 block of Highway WW. When fire officials arrived just before 8 p.m., the home’s only occupant was unaccounted for. Positive identification is pending but officials believe the remains they found are that of the 71-year-old female homeowner.

The cause and origin of the fire are not yet known.
