ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Illinois gas prices are at an all-time high for February, according to AAA Chicago. And at least one St. Louis station had a line of cars Monday because it’s prices were so low.
Beth Mosher, a spokeswoman for AAA Chicago believes the rise will be fairly short-term. We know prices typically rise as we head into the spring. It remains to be seen exactly what’s going to happen and how high prices are going to go.
The January average price at the pump was $3.38. Mosher says right now it’s $3.62. She says the highest in the state is $3.99 a gallon in Chicago and the lowest is in the East St. Louis area with $3.54.
In St. Louis, the price is around $3.49 up from $3.31. Reportedly a gas station at Lenox and Jennings Station Road was selling unleaded for $3.24 earlier Monday afternoon and attracting a line of cars. No word on whether it was a promotion or not.
