ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — A man was fatally shot Thursday night after a run-in with a St. Louis city police officer on the riverfront.
This all started as a routine traffic stop shortly after 6 p.m. at Leonor K. Sullivan and Biddle, after police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle, possibly involved in drug activity.
A quick computer check revealed an active warrant on the driver, but a struggle ensued during the arrest attempt with the suspect reportedly trying to grab the officer’s gun.
At that point the officer pulled his service weapon and fired once, striking the driver in the upper body.
32-year-old Jason Noroian of Des Peres was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say he’d been carrying a loaded handgun.
As standard procedure, the 28-year-old officer with two years service on the force was placed on administrative leave.
