BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOX) - Firefighters faced some challenges battling a mid-morning house fire, Saturday, near Castlewood State Park.
Metro West Fire District Spokesman Mike Thiemann tells KMOX because there are no hydrants in the 100 block of South Drive, they had to call in extra crews, and shuttle water to the scene, “It’s a very tight area down here, so maneuvering trucks in and setting up water supply—water shuttling operations with tankers— is always a challenge. But, our crews were able to accomplish that.”
Initial reports were that the house exploded with a person inside, but Thiemann says the victim was outside when they got there and the cause has not been determined yet.
The house was destroyed.
The occupant suffered minor injuries.
