There’s been a setback for a large Chicago street gang with members in the St. Louis area.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports 35-year-old Vicente Garcia ran day-to-day operations for the Latin Kings gang.
Prosecutors say Garcia ruled over 10,000 gang members and ordered murders, drug deals and beatings.
They also say Garcia wrote the rules for the gang. They reportedly require members to carry guns at all times and to shoot rivals on sight if they were on the gang’s turf.
Chicago federal Judge Charles Norgle calls the Latin Kings a “barbaric organization”.
Garcia cried during his sentencing hearing Friday. He’s one of 28 Latin Kings to be sentenced in a major racketeering case.
