Ash Wednesday Blessings Moved Outside

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Ash Wednesday went out doors today in St. Louis.

Several ministers moved the annual spreading of ashes on the forehead to the streets to reach more people.

“Today the church tends to be contain to the buildings,” Father Marek Bozek, of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church said. “I think its time we go back to the roots, and go back to the streets as Jesus did.”

Marek says he even applied ashes to the foreheads of two people in a car at a stop light at Grand and Arsenal.

Ash Wednesday marks the start of 40 days of preparation for Easter.
