Glen Carbon Police: Collection Jar For Cancer Patient Stolen

GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOX) – There is a silver-lining to that story out of Glen Carbon where a collection jar was stolen on Monday.

The IHOP located on highway 159 on the main drag through Glen Carbon will now donate 20% of its sale Wednesday (6 a.m.-8 p.m.) to the worker battling cancer.

No word on how much might have been in the jar at the time it was stolen.

GLEN CARBON, Ill. (AP) – Investigators in southwestern Illinois are trying to find the person who stole a restaurant’s countertop jar that was accepting donations for a cancer patient.

Police in Glen Carbon say the theft happened Monday at an International House of Pancakes restaurant in Glen Carbon.

It isn’t clear how much money was in the jar. Workers at the restaurant were trying to raise money to help a colleague with breast cancer who isn’t able to work because of treatments.
