WATERLOO, Ill. (KMOX) – A Madison County Judge has dismissed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Joyce Meyer Ministries. The suit was filed in 2011 by attorneys for Sheri Coleman’s mother and brother.
The suit alleged the ministry should have known that former employee Christopher Coleman, its security chief, was behind the anonymous threats against himself and his family. It also said the ministry should have told Sheri Coleman that her husband was having an affair.
“Clearly I’m very disappointed by the judges ruling today,” Tony Romanucci, one of the attorneys for the mother and brother of Sheri Coleman said. “I don’t agree with his finding. My belief was that we presented more than enough evidence to withstand a dismissal of the complaint.”
Romanucci said they will appeal today’s decision.
Coleman was convicted of murdering his wife, Sheri and the couples two sons in 2009. He is appealing the sentence of life in prison without parole.
