ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis police have one man in custody who was involved in a gun battle through north St. Louis and parts of downtown Wednesday evening.
Police say it started around 4:30 p.m. when they received a report that a shooting took place between two cars at Kingshighway and Natural Bridge. When police arrived on the scene both cars fled and eluded police after a brief chase.
According to police, the action picked up again when they received reports of a shootout between a silver Hyundia and a maroon Mazda Miata around 5 p.m.
Police said the shootout continued into downtown St. Louis and ended after the Hyundai crashed into a light pole at Pine Street and Broadway near Met Square. Police on the scene say the Miata stopped and fired several shots at the driver of the Hyundai before fleeing.
The driver of the Miata is still at large. The driver of the Hyundai was taken into custody.
Police say no one was injured during the shootout. Although two plate-glass windows of a storefront business near where the accident happen were shattered.
