ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Charges have been filed against a man police say opened fire on St. Louis officers Wednesday night.
The Circuit Attorney’s Office issued warrants against Rico Martin, 44, for two counts of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of armed criminal action, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one felony count of violating Missouri’s controlled substance law.
The two officers were shot Wednesday night while responding to an alarm call in the Baden neighborhood on the north side.
“My first question is how are they? I’m going to see them,” Mayor Francis Slay told reporters outside the emergency room.
Both officers were taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and later released.
Police spokesman David Marzullo said a male officer, 26, was shot in the leg and a female officer, 31, was shot in the foot.
