EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KMOX) - Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville officials sent a text message to students and staff at 2:18 Monday morning, detailing an armed robbery on the campus.
According to the text message and accompanying email, it happened at the Cougar Village 402 area around 1:10 a.m. and involved two suspects.The first suspect is a black male with a dark complexion, six feet tall and wearing a black jacket and stocking cap. The suspect is believed to be carrying an unknown type of handgun.
A second suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, six feet tall and wearing a gray coat and stocking cap.
Both men are believed to be in the 20s and have a thin build. They were last seen walking eastbound on Cougar Lake Drive, according to the alert.
On its website, the university lists among its “points of pride” a study by “The Daily Beast” which “ranks SIUE 21st in the nation among its Top 50 Safest Colleges.”
The alert was sent as part of the school’s “SIUE e-Lert” program.
