ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The outcry against St. Louis University President Father Lawrence Biondi spilled over into Wednesday night’s SLU basketball game.
“I hope he can leave with respect and dignity, which I think he should be allowed to, but I just hope he goes soon,” said Chris Bednarek, one of several Alums in the stands holding up a banner that read “Alums for No Confidence.”
“I think the spirit of the University has been trampled in terms of how he’s handled the administration and the lack of support for the faculty and the students.”
Bednarek, a “95” graduate, said he just wanted to create more awareness among fellow Alums as to how serious the situation at Saint Louis University is.
Faculty and students have already voted ‘no confidence’ in the University President.
The group unfurled the banner at the beginning of the game and was told by a security guard to take it down. When they made another attempt toward the end of the game, there were again told to remove it.
Meanwhile, Father Biondi issued a 20-page letter Wednesday expressing a willingness to find new ways to move forward — in more collaborative and conciliatory ways.
The Billikens won the game against St. Joseph’s 70-53
