ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis has already hosted one Olympics. Could it host another?
It may not be likely, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Gateway City is among 35 invited last week by the United States Olympic Committee to bid for the 2024 summer games.
It’s an expensive longshot the USOC says the bid process alone costs more than $10 million. The USOC says the host city must meet several requirements, including 45,000 hotel rooms, an Olympic Village that sleeps 16,500 and an operations space for more than 15,000 members of the media.
St. Louis was the site of the 1904 Olympics.
