New Sex Charges Against Belleville Martial Arts Instructor

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — A martial arts instructor faces up to 180 years in prison on multiple counts child sexual abuse.

20-year-old Christopher Horton of Highland is held without bond and his trial date has yet to be set, but a federal grand jury returned a six count indictment Wednesday charging him with five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Attempt Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Horton had been charged in a two-count federal Criminal Complaint for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor last month.

Horton, who was a martial arts instructor in Belleville allegedly video recorded himself engaged in sexual activity with three minors.

This took place between May 1, 2012 and February 11, 2013.

If convicted, each count carries a possible sentence of between 15 and 30 years in prison and a fine up to a quarter million dollars.

On parents call Horton , “a wonderful instructor” who “builds a strong bond with his students” and is “great with people.”
