St. Louis Police Chief Criticizes Officer’s Pro-Marijuana Stand

Greg Branson

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A former head of the St. Louis Police Officers Association could be in hot water over his pro-marijuana stand.

KTVI reports Sergeant Gary Wiegart has been summoned to headquarters downtown Monday.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported Friday that Weigart is a lobbyist for Show-Me Cannabis, a group that wants marijuana regulated in a manner similar to alcohol.

Police Chief Sam Dotson issued a statement, saying “Sergeant Weigart is not representing the department. His comments are his own and is not what is expected of our officers. ”
