Crews Wins A-10 Coach of Year

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (KMOX) – There’s word out of conference headquarters, Tuesday, that Saint Louis University men’s basketball coach Jim Crews has been selected Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year by his peers.

Crews led the nation’s 16th-ranked Billikens to a 24-6 record and a #1 seed in the postseason conference tournament. A former assistant under Rick Majerus, Crews took over as head coach last offseason when Majerus resigned due to illness and later died.

A number of Billiken players also scored conference regular season awards.

Dwayne Evans made the A-10 all-conference first team, as well as all academic team.

Jordair Jett was named to the all-conference third team & all defensive team.

Cody Ellis was named the conference’s 6th Man of the Year.

And, Kwamain Mitchell secured third team all-conference honors.
