Armed Robbery Arrest In Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) – Authorities say a 19-year-old man faces charges for allegedly trying to rob a woman at gunpoint in downtown Belleville.

Police say Brandon Goff allegedly robbed a woman sitting in her car in a parking lot Thursday evening. Belleville Police Detective Mark Heffernan says the victim said a man approached the driver’s side, pointed a handgun at her and demanded her purse. He then fled in a vehicle.

Goff remains in custody at the Belleville Police Department. He’s being held in lieu of $500,000. It was immediately unclear Sunday if he has an attorney. A listed number for Goff could not be located Sunday.

If convicted, he faces six to 30 years in prison.
