ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – A boy who was pulled from a burning north St. Louis home Wednesday morning has died. The victim is identified as 5 year old Amaiziah Gully.
Firefighters arrived at the two story, wood-frame house on Emerson at Bircher just before 11:00 a.m.
Crews were told that someone may be trapped. Firefighter Jake Buhnerkempe followed another firefighter with a hose, and found the child in one of the downstairs bedrooms.
Buhnerkempe said he scooped up the boy and raced him outside to a waiting ambulance.
Two adults and four other children got out safely.
Buhnerkempe said what he did, was nothing special. “There’s 35 other guys out here that would have done the exact same thing in that situation, I was just the one that happened to come across him this time.”
