ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis Blues fans “bleed blue” for their team, but are Saint Louis University fans willing to eat blue for the Billikens? That is the proposal being offered by a local dietician on this day of the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Saint Louis University registered dietitian Amy Moore says a lot of blue foods are “super foods,” loaded with nutrients and containing extra disease-fighting benefits.
“You could start your day with a blueberry smoothie. Blueberries are being studied for their role in helping with memory loss,” Moore said. “They’ve also been studies for their work in helping prevent cardiovascular disease.
“Besides blueberries, you could also have plums or purple grapes, they are also rich in antioxidants. Even blue corn chips, if you wanted to get some more blue in your diet,” she added.
