ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — A man was tased late Thursday night while trying to scale the wall of the antelope enclosure at the St. Louis Zoo — likely part of a desperate attempt to elude police.
The 24-year-old man had reportedly just been involved in a single-car crash on I-64 at Hampton after fleeing a traffic stop at Kingshighway moments earlier.
After wrecking the driver ran toward Wells Avenue in front of the zoo and tried to scale a fence into the antelope enclosure. A park ranger saw the suspect and tased him.
The suspect’s name has not been released pending the filing of formal charges.
Police say they originally tried to pull the man over for a simple traffic violation before he sped off in his car.
