EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A Alton woman who apologetically insisted she aided in the robbery of an elderly McDonald’s worker to help support her young son has been sentenced to four years in prison for the holdup.
The (Alton) Telegraph reports that a Madison County judge on Wednesday imposed the prison term prosecutors had sought for 20-year-old Chelsea Stewart. She previously pleaded guilty.
Authorities say Stewart worked at the McDonald’s restaurant in Wood River and used her knowledge of the business’ operations to help boyfriend Koudaben Hart rob a 74-year-old worker outside the restaurant last September of nearly $15,000.
The victim was taking the money to the bank to be deposited.
Koudaben last month pleaded guilty to a robbery count and was sentenced to six years.
