Fallen Soldier to be Laid to Rest in Carlyle

HIGHLAND, IL. (KMOX) - Friends and family said goodbye Tuesday to Highland Illinois native Marine Corporal Aaron Ripperda.
Some 2,000 American Flags line the streets of Highland. Visitation took place Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Corporal Ripperda was killed in a training exercise in Nevada.
Wednesday morning the funeral Service will be held at 10 A.M. at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Highland.
The journey to his final resting place will wind it’s way to Carlyle, Illinois.
His family says he always sailed on Carlyle Lake and once requested he be laid to rest near the lake.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery overlooking the lake.
The funeral procession is due to arrive in Carlyle around Noon Wednesday and the Clinton County Sheriff is requesting that people gather along lake road near the Carlyle lake dam.
