ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) — St. Charles city is preparing to put out bids for more security cameras along the city’s historic Main Street.
Director of Economic Development and Tourism David Leezer says by summer’s end they hope to have an array of security cameras up and down the popular restaurant and bar corridor.
Leezer said he the idea is to prevent small nuisance crimes, “the merchants have been mostly concerned about vandalism, public urination, and people throwing bottles against walls.”
Since February, the first three cameras have been in operation on the outside of the St. Charles Tourism Center at 230 South Main street.
Leezer says no crimes have been recorded so far.
