Assistance for Storm Victims Continues

HAZELWOOD, MO (KMOX) - The American Red Cross plans to keep the shelter in Hazelwood open for as long as its needed.
The Red Cross says about a dozen residents have spent nights at the shelter at 8969 Dunn Road.
Anyone is welcome there , to get food, shelter and emotional support , even if they aren’t staying overnight.
The Red Cross now estimates 53 homes or apartments were destroyed and 29 suffered major damage.
The Red Cross is also helping storm victims in Franklin County and in Godfrey Illinois.

Hazelwood officials remind residents to dial 2-1-1 any time for storm related assistance.
The service can match people up with services like home repair, debris removal, disaster kits, personal hygiene items even food , clothing and furniture.

Hazelwood Baptist Church in coordination with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Association has been providing sit-down meals.
There will be chicken dinner Saturday night. The church is located at 6161 Howdershell Road. It’s free and the serving line opens at 5:30. Church officials are also letting people shower and just relax in the building.
