Normandy High Student Dies After Apparent Horseplay

WELLSTON, Mo. (AP) – Police are investigating after a suburban St. Louis teenager died after apparent horseplay at his high school.

Authorities say the student collapsed Thursday after being struck in the chest by another student at Normandy High School in St. Louis County. The St. Louis County medical examiner’s office has identified the boy as 15-year-old Marquez Oliver.

Police believe the victim and the person who struck him were playing around. The injured student was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital where he died a few hours later.

A district spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment on Friday.

It wasn’t known if the student suffered from a pre-existing medical condition.
