Metro Transit ‘Increases Vigilance’ After Boston Bombings
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Security is expected to tighten on Metro Transit routes Tuesday after an attack at the Boston Marathon Monday that left at least three people dead and over 100 injured.
“As a result of the explosions in Boston, we have increased our vigilance and public safety patrol presence at Metro Transit,” Metro officials said in a Facebook post Monday night.
“Our customers can be our eyes and ears,” the message said. “If you see something suspicious, report it to a Metro officer, call (314) 289-6873 or call 9-1-1.”
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson told KMOX Monday that he was following the events in Boston and awaiting more information.
Dotson said St. Louis Police work with federal authorities to prepare for large crowd gatherings here but added that it is too soon to say whether events in Boston could bring about more even more security at public events in St. Louis.
