ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Authorities have released the name of the man who died in a St. Louis fire Friday morning.

Authorities say 79-year-old Charles Henry was killed in the blaze at his home on Theodosia near Union, in the Wells Goodfellow neighborhood.

Firefighters believe the fire began on the first floor, spread through the walls and burned through parts of the roof.

Fire officials believe Henry may have been trying to put out the fire himself. Neighbors tried to help but were kept back by the smoke and flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
