ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The head of the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission says the city is “in good shape” as the summer tourism season draws near.
St. Louis CVC President Kitty Ratcliffe says the region is on pace to draw a large number of visitors between now and August, boosted by a strong start in April, including this week’s First Robotics at America’s Center “which is an extraordinary event for this community. They fill hotel rooms throughout the region, not just downtown,” she said.
This year the CVC will be advertising heavily in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Milwaukee in addition to Chicago, Louisville, Nashville and Memphis.
“It’s really simple and easy to get here and it’s inexpensive once you get here and we offer so many things that those communities in that radius don’t have,” Ratcliffe said.
She said the CVC will be targeting African-American and LGBT tourists especially this year.
