Raw Sewage Running into Mississippi River

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Raw sewage is being dumped into the flooded Mississippi River because of pump failures.
Metropolitan Sewer District crews are working around the clock to repair two pumps that failed on Sunday at the Bissell Point Treatment Plant in North St. Louis.
Only one pump is left which can only treat about half of the average daily sewage flow.
MSD says the sewage spill has been reported to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
The pumps were tested and passed inspection just last week in preparation for the expected excessive rain fall.
