UPDATE: Pile of Phone Books Leads To Evacuations At Belleville Hospital

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – A pile of phone books prompted two buildings near St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville to be evacuated Monday.
Authorities say the suspicious package was discovered in the 180 block of S. 3rd St. around 9 a.m.
Its not known where exactly the package was left or who discovered it.
Belleville Police said in a press release that precautionary steps were taken “in light of recent activities.”
The Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad and specialty units from Madison County investigated the incident.
Police said all staff was evacuated from the Medical Arts Building and Belleville Medical Building as a precaution. Officials said the hospital was still open for all in-patient and out-patient procedures.
