GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) – A man suffers only minor injuries after jumping out a second-story window during a fire at his Metro-East apartment.

The fire broke out at the Maryland Manor Apartments in the 2100 block of Pontoon Road in Granite City, after sunrise Sunday.

Firefighters at the scene say the resident apparently fell asleep while cooking something on his stove.

There was no estimate on the damage to the apartment.
