ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Sports Commission is the winner of the National Association of Sports Commissions top yearly honor.
At a conference held in Louisville, the NASC named the St. Louis group its “Member of the Year” for 2013. It took into account accomplishments made during the 2012 calendar year.
St. Louis joins a group from Richmond, Virginia as the only three-time winner of the award. Its previous honors came in 2002 and 2005.
“The St. Louis Sports Commission is seen by our industry as a model for the impact sports commissions can have on their communities,” said Don Schumacher, executive director of the NASC. “The organization’s approach, breadth of work, and overall commitment to its community are much admired by its peers.”
In receiving the award, St. Louis Sports Commission Chair Dave Peacock said, “We are honored to be recognized. This is a testament to the hard work by many to position St. Louis as an outstanding sports event destination, and it’s a credit to the outstanding support the Commission receives from our community, particularly our members and volunteers.”
