OVERLAND, Mo. (AP) — A woman is in custody following the hit-and-run death of a 26-year-old pedestrian in the St. Louis County town of Overland.

The incident happened Saturday night. Police say Desmond Edwards was walking near an intersection when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect went to a nearby house and told witnesses what had happened. The witnesses called police, who arrested the woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Prosecutors have not filed charges.
