Area Housing Figures Up, Lag Behind National Numbers

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Recent housing numbers show a boost in the St. Louis-area housing market.
Coldwell Banker Gundaker President Jim Dohr says prices are up.
“In St. Louis we’re doing quite well overall,” he said. “I think national numbers show that prices are up nine percent or so in the recent Case-Shiller report and we’re running between five and eight percent.”
Dohr said the average number of days a home is on the market is in the low nineties. A year ago, it was closer to 110.
Dohr said the rebound could be stronger if credit were looser.
“If credit were just a little bit looser, in the United States we would probably sell between 500,000 and 700,000 more houses this year,” he said.
